We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit focused on equipping the next generation of fashion professionals in ethical and sustainable practices through workforce and leadership development.
We recruit Advocates-In-Training (AITs), between the ages of 16-24, place them with a sustainable fashion company and provide them with the tools to prepare them to make a positive impact within the fashion industry.
Our advocates choose their focus within 1 of 3 career interest paths:
1. Fashion Design
2. Fashion Supply Chain
3. Fashion Marketing/PR
Once paired, the AIT works part-time with the entity alongside their team in the area of choice. AITs will get hands-on experience, while checking in weekly with our team to gain workforce and leadership development.
Once the 8 weeks of hands on training ends, each AIT will be tasked to complete a community action project in their own community and/or participate or host a clothing swap with the goal of educating their community on the impact of fashion and the importance of circular economy.
Our mission and vision are simple with the opportunity to make a huge impact on the fashion industry, one AIT at a time.
We started out as a for-profit, sustainable fashion resource focused on selling and promoting new and recycled sustainably and ethically made fashion items. Our goal was and still is to empower individuals to minimize their environmental impact. Through the circular economy lens we promote clothing and textile waste education, recycling, upcycling, resale, consignment, swaps and donation opportunities while also informing consumers about the sustainable fashion movement.
After a few years of this effort we realized the opportunity to do more within the sustainable fashion space using leadership and workforce development, which is our founder's comfort zone and here we are. Starting here will ensure that AITs are equipped to look at the fashion industry through the lens of ethics within fashion, along with sustainability and environmental impact.
It's time to go upstream!
